Finally back at work, and back to reality.
It's nice to get in the office, to have this awesome sign up that kids have made for me with the help from Anna @the.small.folk . I can't thank you enough for all of your help over the last week, from looking after Aylah to stopping into the office after hours to check that everything has been completed, making sure that we have fresh bread and milk for when we arrived home. For checking in on Floyd to make sure he had food and water. You make so many aspects of my life easier and sometimes I don’t thank you enough or give you the credit you deserve. It doesn’t matter that I’m in another state you always seem to step up and support me anyway that you can. I honestly cannot thank you enough for having Aylah for me while I was away or making yet again another fantastic video of my adventures to share with our members family and friends. You are an absolutely incredible.
Ironman 2023 done! ✔️ With a 3.8km swim, 180km cycle and 42.2km run, to say I had a week of nerves leading into race day would be an understatement!
The swim went to plan; conditions were nice and flat and I was stoked to knock 6 minutes off last year’s time. Overall I am happy with the bike leg, but it was a tough one riding 100km into the wind 💨 which is never fun. It was so hot that I drank 6 bottles of water 🥵 For the run, I knew I was in trouble right off the bat. I started cramping early, so had some food and cramp aide, but it was a bit too much for my tummy, so I had to have a chuck on the side of the course then keep pushing through.
All in all, I was 17 minutes faster then last year’s Ironman, and that was my biggest goal 💪🏽
I have to say massive thanks to everyone on the side who kept me going; Chrissie was there all the way and is a constant support, and my awesome cousins Tamika and Axel, and friends Helen, Brendan, Jess and Jan were there to cheer me on. Thanks so much.
My team back at work - especially Anna - Lara - thanks for all you have done while I’ve been gone. And to everyone who has reached out and sent messages of support and congratulations - thank you so much. Love you all.
This time last year, I was standing in the same place, slightly naive and unaware of the monumental Ironman mountain that lay ahead.
Fast forward 12 months, and here I am again - far more prepared, far more aware and completely focussed on conquering that same Ironman mountain that lies ahead tomorrow.
My phone has been filled with messages, calls and well wishes from everyone back at home, and I know that the amount of people I have backing me will give me the strength and inner drive to push through in those physically, mentally and emotionally tough moments.

Ionna, what could we possibly say to do your time with us justice?! You came into our lives with that beaming smile, and week after week, you encouraged our girls, endlessly cheering them on and being their biggest supporter. You’ve shown up for them at local roster, training sessions, school visits and intertown games, even when you were never obligated to, and our girls thrived under your praise and high fives. We know this is just a “see you soon” - thank you for everything ♥️

It may be some time since I was last on the podium, back when I won my last motocross championship, but a trip to Hobart on the weekend for the @triathlontasmain awards night seew me come away with 2nd in the Aqau state championship and 3rd in the triathlon state championship, happy as with that as I didn't know that I was getting them.

Yoga, Pilates - what’s the difference? Great question!
Pilates and yoga are two types of low-impact exercise that can benefit almost everyone. Although many people consider them similar, they have important differences.
When practicing yoga, you typically adopt a position, hold it, and then flow into a new position. In Pilates, you adopt a position and then challenge your core by moving your arms or legs.
As a fitness strategy, yoga blends physical poses with breathing techniques, and because of this mindfulness element, yoga is sometimes called meditative movement.
Pilates movements require stabilising your core before going through a series of repetitive, range-of-motion exercises.
Both approaches increase strength, flexibility, posture and balance and we are so proud to offer both classes twice a week!

Applicants must have current Austswim, aqua and first aide certifications, an ability to work weekdays and Saturdays, and display a clear willingness to embrace diversity and work in a team environment.
As a boutique gym in a small town, we pride ourselves on the trusting relationships we build with our community and members, and the ideal applicant will value-add to our dynamic aquatic programs

Well! What a day it was for the very first Ironman 70.3 in Hobart! We wont mention the fact that I’m now in a “levelled-up” age category, but it just goes to show, you can teach an old dog new tricks 😆💪🏽
The event itself was incredible. Spectacular weather, scenery and camaraderie between athletes.
Jumping in from the pier to begin the race was a whole new experience and I am so pleased with how my swim went. The bike leg was filled with climbing and rough roads, and in my first 10km, one of my straps broke and I lost my brand new water bottle and 90% of my gels 🙈 The wind made the ride a tough one, coupled with 1100m of uphill ascents, but I was super stoked with my cycle overall.
To finish, my run was also strong. I have been working hard to get a PB for 21.1km, which I was able to achieve, along with a PB for 20km AND a PB finishing time for a triathlon 🎉
All in all, I am so happy with my performance and feel so lucky to be competing in such an amazing event in my own home state.
I can’t thank everyone enough for all of your messages of support. They give me such a boost of energy and confidence right when I need it most.
Also a huge shout-out to those who are with me through the good times and the shit times while training - especially @dunny_sum for being the best running partner, and all the boys for the early morning rides. Thanks to Chrissie for pushing me when I didn't want to get out of bed, Anna for all of her help and support, and Vanessa and Alex for stepping in at work when I couldn’t be there.

Tomorrow, history is made! I’m so excited to be competing in the very first Ironman 70.3 held in Tasmania. What an honour to race this renowned, worldwide event in my own home state 💚

With a 1.9km swim, 90km cycle and 21km run, I’ll be pushing my body and mind to the limit, but that’s what all the preparation, commitment and effort is for - let’s do this! 🏊🏼🚴🏼♂️🏃🏻♂️
The return to school signals the beginning of our next Youth Development Program! This 8 week squad is perfect for teens aged 12 to 16 whereby participants will gain confidence and learn how to use gym equipment appropriately, empowering them to train safely and independently.
Once completing the 8 sessions, there will be an opportunity for attendees to become our next generation of members with our Wynyard Fitness Junior Membership.

there really couldn’t be a more energising way to get back in shape with full body workout, than by splashing your way through guided exercises in our 34°C heated pool!
Our aqua classes are held everyday and are low impact on the body, yet produce high results.
